Just wanted to introduce myself to the board. Did alot lurking when I found out I wanted to go the 80 or 100 route. Chose the 100.
Little background, we had two Gen4s in the family but being a bigger guy I never quite fit in them right, so I sold my Sport V8 and started my search.
Being from WI and working on alot of Jeeps I just got tired of having to soak or torch every bolt. Day projects quickly turned into weekend marathons so I turned my sights southwest. Ended up finding a stock 98 in Texas with 150k for 5k. Body isnt the best but this will be a years long project and the savings because of the body conditon can be put towards some nice upgrades. All the body isnt the drivetrain and underside is. Looks brand new which is what I was looking for. So far with only highway driving Im getting 18.4mpg which is more than I was expecting.
Dont expect to do any trail riding but we do alot of field hunting for waterfowl and some logging roads for grouse.
Heres my to do list this month...
Brakes
Caltrend seat covers on front....backseat is ok still.
Pull factory running boards, add sliders.
Before October
New tires, dont think the LTXs will get me out of a slick cornfield
Lift maybe, not sure if I need it.
Add a roof rack.
Upgrade the lights.
