What are the telling signs that you need new shocks?
I have no idea how many miles the current shocks have on them (Stock LX450 w/ 285s).

It seems when the check engine light comes on my senses become more acute and I am trying to figure out if my mind is playing tricks on me.

Also, if new shocks are installed what immediate benefits will you notice, as I have never had a vehicle with a new set of shocks, I just seem to gravitate to worn out ones I suppose.

Thanks,
Kris

The primary sign that you need new shocks is that you experience execessive wheel bounce when driving over rough sections of road.

From a physical appearance point of view insepct the shocks for large dents, broken bushings, and signs of hydraulic fluid leakage.

Driving with new quality shocks produces a ride without wheel patter and excessive bounce. The handling becomes much tighter. I prefare to use Koni adjustable dampers and may look at the Koni Shock Rally Raid Adjustable. most on this boad will have a different idia about that.

So I believe if your tires start to 'cup', thats an indication that one (or more) of your shock isn't helping to keeping the wheels firmly on the ground.
