Hey ya'll,

I am fairly new into the off road family. My experience is in restoring mainly pre 70' american muscle, while Toyota/Lexus being the daily drivers...

Had an amazing 94' 4Runner, only 103K that my parents bought new - stolen and chopped

Bought a 92' fj80 3fe and a 94' fjz80, recently sold the 92' for a move...

My 94' is an amazing turn key boat anchor...

The car is 6/94 build date, bought from original owner. Cosmetically she needs help, but is as solid as they come. Has about 275K.

Where should I start? I know kinda general, but I am very overwhelmed on how to start...

Any ideas appreciated!

Look on Slee's website for a list of things to check. He has compiled a great list of things to check out and inspect on the 80 series.

Like said, start diving in with the PM. It DOES become a bit of a rabbit hole, so be warned. You touch something and something wants to give you some grief or require replacing as well.

And this thread is worthless without pics :flipoff2:

Thanks for the suggestion on Slee's website, seems like good info! I am not sure what pictures I could post, I have plenty...when i took it to a specialty lc place in utah they couldnt believe the mechanical condition she is in...i am a little lost on the term 'pm' do you mean preventative maintenance?

Yeah preventative maintenance. Which place in Utah? Proffitt's?

Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters in Sandy, Utah is a great guy to work with. He has a great shop as well to service anything he sales as well as PM and basics. Give him a call and he'll answer your questions and know which parts it requires to fix it.

Yes, it was most likely Kurt from Cruiser Outfitters, helped me out a bit with my other lc too, i lost some cylinders in my last, so i did a compression test and numbers were all in the same range around 178, now im turning some gears on what to check next
