I don't know if this is still the case, but 5 years ago, I went and bought 2 used 24V alt. still had charging issues, not to mention the regulators I went through, but anyway, someone said getting a new alt from Toyota wasn't bad. So I went and sure enough, for $200 I got a brand new 24V alt from Toyota. Note it doesn't come with the vac pump.

Just a thought to look into.
Cheers,

Check the diesel part number thread. RockAuto and Napa both stock your alternator!

I checked that out, the Napa does not include a vaccuum pump and the Rock Auto Parts (which I have never heard of) uses an odd belt. We ended up getting the alternator to work, but someone PM'd me a link to a used one for sale. Looks hammered but he is going to have it rebuilt for a backup. That is really the only "odd" part on these that is important to have a spare of if you ask me :)

I have a couple NOS Toyota vacuum pumps in their boxes if anybody decides to go all new.
