I got the truck back today from Toyota...they did their complete brake fluid replacement and bleeding. The pedal still reacts the same, and that is why they say the booster is not working correctly.
But here is a new twist, a mechanic where I work suggested I go about 20-30 mph and do some hard stops and see what the pedal does. So I did this after getting the truck back from the dealer, and much to my surprise, the pedal comes all the way back up like normal after this type of stop. I think he was thinking there is some air somehow making its way into the system, even after the brakes are bled. But there are no leaks at the calipers or anywhere else. The Toyota guy said that could not happen. I do see where I can buy a $50 rebuild kit for the master cylinder, do you guys think air could get in around reservoir o-ring (if there is one??) or where the plunger comes in (again, if this is how it works).
The rebuild kit does not say what it comes with.
I am really wondering if this is actually a booster issue but there is no way to actually tell (unless code is pulled, which it wasn't) if the booster, master cylinder assembly is actually bad.
