I lost my tire winch rod and will make another one.

Can someone post a pic with dimensions. I have a 40" piece of 1/2" dowel and the main thing I need is the outside diameter of the eye at the winch end.

Thanks guys.

PS. I think I lost it along I-40 between Sacremento and Reno in case anyone found it.

Tire winch rod...

Are those the same as for the 55 series?

The spare tire carrier on the 45 in the garage looks very, very similar to the spare tire carriers on the 55s in the driveway. This handle came with my 55 but seems to work on the 45...

I thought the 55s had a spare tire winch rod just for that purpose. I bought one from a late model 55 to use on my 45. The 45s imported here were pre spare tire winch but came with the rod used to turn the engine over by hand which is the same type of rod. Clips behind the driver's seat to store it. I'm going to use the spare tire carrier from a 55 on my 45. Picked up the late 55 rod because it one the longest one made which will make it earlier to use with the confer style rear bumper I have. Going from memory but the earlier rod was 850MM and the later, last year or two was 1005MM. The rod fits the clips behind the seat plus clips for two jack handle rods.

My mistake. I've just been informed that the spare tire winch under the 45 in the garage is from a 55...
BUT, the long, hooked, jack handle extension (pictured above) also works in the spare tire winch.
The big engine-turning handle I just use for starting the engine when the battery is dead. The big handles were still available from the dealer last I heard...

That looks like it will do. The boss on the hook looks like it will lock into winch.

Thanks for the pics.

I'll post up with my newly fabricated one in a several weeks. I'm off to Italy this afternoon for a holiday with the wife. I'll try and get some good pics of the Costa Concordia, we'll be sailing right past it.

So Alberta mac came through with the rod and it works fine.

It is the same one as in your pics Pighead, thanks.
