ok, first post. It took me awhile to find this board, but in the mean time, i've been looking and trying to decide on what to replace my stock jbl head unit with. This is for an '01 btw

First, with the 6 disc changer in the head unit, do i still have a port that I can run an input through? Sorry, havent even taken mine out yet, and thought someone here would know....

Second, front driver side door speaker is blown, so I plan on replacing all the doors with cdt's, but i was wondering if the stock amp is enough, or am i creating more trouble for myself. Also, does anyone have instructions for removal of the door panel....I hate the plastic clips and always seem to miss one

Third - if i decide to replace the factory head unit, does anyone have any idea of a different mount besides the din pocket, i would be happy with a center mounted single din unit with no pocket, just equal flat space on the top and bottom

fourth - if i choose to bypass the stock amp, does anyone have the diagram ? thanks -nick

I replaced my indash 6 disc with an Eclispe and I am super happy with it. Myself I am also glad I have the pocket which = a place to but junk.

left the speakers stock for now.....still sounds really good

Factory amp is not adequate...unless you are perfectly happy with the way the stock system sounds. Eclipse head unit, MB Quart speakers; JL Audio amps(2); JL Audio Sub; Dynamat as much as you can afford.

ok, well all parts ordered, cdt components, jl sub, amps, and kicker amp out of our boat, alpine h/u, 80 sq ft of edead, sirius tuner, all wiring....project set for 2 weeks away, i'll document the entire thing step by step in case anyone wants to try and do the same...

nmcclure,

It would be awesome if you document the stereo install. There is no actual technical content to the stereo discussions thus far.

Type of equipment installed, location, difficulties encountered, size of speakers in various locations, etc. would be awesome.

Got an update for us???
