I have a Dune Beige 80 fj40. The paint on the dash, wheel well humps and and walls is still in good shape but the floors are starting to show a bit wear and Im thinking of putting Durabak down. All Im gonna do is the floors and up the fire wall above the fuse box. What I cant decide is if I should go with the light grey to try and get a close match to the beige interior or go dark grey to match the seats and contrast the humps and walls. Also if anyone knows the best primer to put down after sanding and before the Durabak(zero rust, build primer, red oxide) that would be a big help.

You have to tell us more about the metal...ie rust issues or not. Epoxy primer works great with the durabak. Are you planning on placing smooth or rough durabak down? I'd probably go with the darker gray and rough myself. Although I have used the smooth, my application came away with poor results and Cotel is helping me out with what happened.

Unless I find rust under the paint I dont know about, its pretty clean. Little surface rust in the floor pans and a bit in back but nothing to right home about. My concern is making sure the floors have a good seal from moisture under the durabak. Im not too experienced with auto painting products so I just want to make sure I do it right. If the primer application can be done with a rattle can that would be great as Im going to be doing this in an apartment parking lot. Id like to go with 2 layers of rough and a coat of smooth, that seems to give a good finish from what ive seen on the net.

Contact Cotel industries and get the correct procedure from them. Only then will they warranty anything. Rattle can application needs to be ok'd by them. Specially what brand of primer will work with their product.
