I'm in for a DLC BBQ team. Hell yes.

BBQ for boobies.

I'll do a side

Taters for Tittays

Was just coming in to say that I got the forms but it looks like Eric has beat me to the punch.

Okay the entry fee is 100.00. We would be responsible for tables, tents, plates cups, meat, smokers, drinks, etc.... Oh and since it's a fundraiser we'll need to cook enough for up to 300 people. Truthfully we wouldn't need to figure on that many because there will be other teams there but I would say figure on roughly half.

So if this is something we want to do then we should get on it because it's only a month and a half away.

Eric what are the set up arrangements? Set up Friday night, cook overnight, feed Saturday.

What kind of budget are we looking at to feed that many people? I still think it'd be fun, but wowza that's a lot of food.

I would think somewhere between 500-1000 after all is said and done. You figure you've got the meats, drinks, plates, cups, etc... Also we'll need tables. I have EZ-Ups, a prep table, and smokers.

Hooooooooly %^@#$%@#*%#@!...

Gonna need more than you, me, and French to front that. I ain't got that in my couch cushions!

I'm in if we can get the budget in line.

We are trying to secure the butts for the competition. We are asking each team to provide a secondary item that is the team's specialty, like thighs. You will only need drinks for yourself if you want something other than soft drinks and beer.

Yes, those are the arrangements. Set up Friday, cook whenever, and serve on Saturday.

Budget: Okay if Cahaba is going to be providing the butts then that will bring the cost down. Without getting out and pricing chicken and what not I don't know what the final cost would be. I guess we need to see what all we have and would need.

I know that I will need a trailer in order to get one of my smokers down there.

Okay one sponsorship acquired so we are on our way. I asked my dad so I think I can get a couple hundred out of him since this particular cancer has hit my family hard. I say ask and see what happens. We may not get any help but it gets the word out there.

I think there needs to be a Facepage event for this function.

I can help out.

Lets comeuppance with some numbers. If we are doing pork I can make BBQ slaw which I bet no one else will have.

Well I say five bills after the entry fee and if it doesn't take that much then it can go into the coffers for DLC. If it takes more then well I don't know maybe we can dance for the extra. I would rather be on the high side than the low side personally.

I know that when I have done Sloss in the past that it has run close to a grand but that includes the entry fee which is considerably higher.

Maybe we could do sponsorship things where folks can get a little cruiser cutout with a family member's or friend's name on it for a few bucks? Proceeds go to the cookoff, and if we have extra it goes to the BCRFA?

I have no problem with that and after calling Sam's today my estimate maybe a little high. Case price for thighs to day is .91 lb. making a case anywhere from 35.00-40.00. One case will have 70+ thighs in it. So after you figure in paper plates, napkins, water, etc... you're probably looking at 250.00ish plus the entry fee. So 350.00ish total.

Okay if we are going to do this I know of couple of things that we will need that I don't have.

Things that I have: Two EZ-ups, prep table, smokers, grill, coolers

Things that we need: Tables for setting up at the front for serving, chicken (I'm assuming), charcoal & wood (I will handle these), paper plates, paper towels/ napkins, water, sides, bread.

I'm sure I'll think of other things but this is a good start.
