After adding my Slee rear bumper with tire swing out, including 33" tire, the characteristics of the ride have changed and I need some input. I still have 865 springs and after installing the bumper, it was obvious I needed to put the 30mm spacers back in. I took the 30mm spacers out before adding the bumper because I hated the rake and look of the truck.
So, after installing the spacers again, the rear was where I wanted it again. That was until I loaded the truck up today for a 3 day trail riding trip with a few Cruiser clubs this weekend. The rear hasn't really sagged but it's a little mushy. I will find out this weekend how it performs but before loading the truck up, I noticed that it pulls to the right. It pulls a good bit loaded with all of the camping stuff. Is this due to needing stiffer springs or the castors needing adjusting?
Maybe because the tire swing out is on the passenger side and that is pulling more weight to that side causing the truck to pull to the right? Kind of silly sounding but the springs are 865's. I really liked the ride of my 865's before bumper and want to return to that ride with just a touch of height. Suggestions please on new springs and weird charecteristics.

Sounds like you should install airbags into the rear coils.

I have 860s with my rear bumper and i like it.

860's here with Slee trim pack. Slee Rear bumper plus pretty loaded up majority of the time. Rides great plus sits perfect IMO.

Simply my setup, take it for what it's worth..

Good luck

I've got Slee 2RHs in the 2000, rides very well yet firm with a Slee rear bumper(naked) and African outback drawers loaded up along with my 110lb spare tire hanging underneath. I've got OME SportCharger shocks. I had 860s briefly with the same setup and they just weren't enough boing. 2RHs are my recommendation.

Below is the 860 vs 2RH

You'll find that when adding weight to the vehicle, especially at the rear it will pull the nose of the truck up, effecting your wheel alignment, adding camping gear on top of that will also add to the weight and effect. Remember when you add weight, it effects a vehicle on the diagonal, so add a PS tire to your rear bar and expect it to effect the DS front setting.

I'd suggest that once you have the rear trimmed to where you want withe the spring spaces, go and have an alignment done. That should take care of the pulling on the steering.

For the mushy feeling, I'd be adding air bags to the rear.

Get the Slee springs... they have already gone thru the trouble to provide the best solution for this situation and avoid air bags, spacers, etc...

The bumper should not have anything to do with the pulling IMO... maybe double check tire pressure.

When the truck sits level, our nose high it will pull under acceleration. Can be from cranking torsion bars too high, or lowering the rear too much. Alignment not likely to help. Hence the stinkbug...

I ordered the Slee springs. We will see how they do, but after wheeling all weekend , loaded with gear made my decision to find a spring with better load rating. the 865's with 30mm spacers road VERY VERY nice on the highway though.

What about the progressive rate 866's? I have 863's. They are about the same rate as the slee's just a little taller.
