Can I patch it or do I have to replace? Can I replace with one from an Auto Store? I want the cheapest way.

Also, what is the PWR button for? I have a 1996 L/C. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know why a aftermarket non OEM overflow tank wouldn't work....

As for the PWR, this is for when you are towing...I believe it starts you in 2nd gear...and they raises the shift points to build up more momentum before shifting.

Kino, you can replace it with any that fit, but go to some place like www.cruiserparts.net or call Christo. Someone will have a used on, that fits your bracket cheap. It's not something that usually goes bad. Is your's melted or does it look like it was drilled or what? Only asking cause if melted then you may have other issues to find.

PWR - changes teh shift points for when you are towing or want more power.

Thanks, guys! Well, I don't know how this happened either, but I was checking my oil and looked over and noticed that my overflow container was off and down by my belts! One of the pulleys had worn a hole in the overflow container. Actually, I may have forgot to put it back on while trying to change a bulb. I tried to go from the back when I could have went in from the front (headlight assembly).

You should be able to plug the hole with RTV or similar, just make sure the surfaces are very clean, scuff with sandpaper first, then scrub with Dawn & hot water use a brush also, rinse well, dry, follow up with alcohol and do not touch the area after it is clean,

If the hole is small you may be able cut 1/2" strips out of a milk jug light them and drip the molten plastic onto the area to seal it up, an "All" laundry detergent bottle also works, same clean surface prep applies, this does not work with some plastics, test drip somewhere else on the bottle and see how well it sticks

Duct tape?????

Raven Tai,

Thanks, for the tip. Maybe I will try that and see if it works. Also, what is RTV?

RTV = silicone sealant, RTV stands for room temprature volcanizing, (SP?)

PWR button: Check your facts before posting something worthy of ridicule like that it starts you in 2nd gear for towing. You're lucky we're feeling kind today. Junk's got it.

Bulb changing: You were correct to go in from the rear, just didn't secure the tank afterwards. Going from the front would be, oh - about a 2 hour project.

Doug....you may have noticed I said..."I believe" not..."I know for a fact"....and how is the rest of my statement ANY different that Junks? Is that not correct? That it raised the shift points to gain momentum?

***EDIT*** Sorry y'all had a hell of day at the office...not a big deal

"2nd" button is the second gear start switch - really helpfull on slippery surface, especially on snow.
"Pwr" button is used to trickle the tranny ECU to upshift at higher shiftpoints/rpms for heavier load.

Frank.

The "worthy of ridicule" was because the comment rose to that level since starting in 2nd gear would quite literally be the opposite of your needs while starting off with a tow. All in good fun here, but clearly bad timing since it coincided with an ugly Monday for 'ya.

DougM

Thanks, everyone, for your help. This board is very informational!

kino, if you do plug it, do yourself a favor and still keep an eye out or contact Christo or cruiserpurts to see if anyone has a used one floating around. There have also been some 80's parted in the for sale section. Not saying that the plug should not work, but for like $5-10, why risk it.

THe tank in the TuRD had a crack. I got out the torch to fix it. Made a big hole in it.
I had some Underwater Marine Epoxy from Do It Best store.
That stuff works great. Its been several months with no leaks.
Use it as a temp fix only. Who knows how long it lasts.

You may as try and find a bottle with a low coolant sensor in it.
When you find one, get it fabed to fit, write up a FA? on it.
