A fellow cruiserhead sent me pics of this bell housing.
I'm attempting to identify it from these pictures.
Was told there might have been a Ranger bolted it to it, but not sure.
The Chevy side is obvious, not sure about the tranny side.
Hopefully it's for a Chevy to H42 application.

Wouldn't the clutch release lever be on the wrong side with this bellhousing? I thought all gassers had the clutch slave and all on the passenger side? The diesels might have had the driver's side mounting because my H42 bellhousing has the cut-out on both sides not just the driver's side.

It does however look like the bolt pattern to an H42.

The engine side COULD be Chevy V-8, but its kinda hard to tell. Hopefully the hole in th e middle of the backing piece aligns it, otherwise Im not sure how its aligned. That could be kind of important. see if you ca find a Chevy block somewhere and put the housing on it. same with t he tranny...which that side does look Toyota. good luck!

looks like a modded scattershield BH. Most likely Chev. Clutch slave can be on either side.

Might have been before someone did the hack job for the so called Toyota mounting... I wouldn't trust it.... looks like there will be some misalignment issues .........

That is a std Chevy scatter shield and block plate that has been hacked on to fit some other trans than originally intended.

Before using it I would mock it together with a trans, but without a clutch. Put a mag-mount dial indicator on the flywheel, indicate on the input shaft, and slowly turn the crank - Check that the trans shaft is concentric to the crankshaft.

Or sell it to the Chinese for scrap and call it a day.
