Hi Everyone,

What year/model of vehicle is the best to get the fuel injection off of for my SBC?

Thank you,

I'd think a tbi system would be the easiest swap 87-95 sbc. but a tpi system could build a few more ponies if that's what you're looking for. they came on 87 and up camaros, firebirds and corvettes.I think corvette may have started a little earlier actually.

I like taking them off of G series vans. They are more self contained than a lot of the car systems. They don't have as many wires to sort through that you don't need. The harness goes up to the ECM located under the driver's seat so it gives you a nice long harness to play with.

The O2 sensor is on the drivers side as well. It works well with the need to run the exhaust down the left side on a crusah.

They ran TBI on the VIN K 1 tons up through 96.

Good ol' 7747 ECM too.

I have a nice TPI unit, 7727 ECM (Vette weather pack), distributer, and MAP sensor. All you need is to call Affordible Fuel Injection adn get a harness, fuel pump, 02 sensor and Chip and you'll be set. Shoot me a PM if you are interested.

if you go tpi, it is better to use a speed density sensor rather than the mass air flow sensor. it is very reliable and easy to install, and you also get more horsepower. i run a painless harness with my 92 vette motor. it is complete and you can get a longer harness if you want an under seat mount. propane is awesome, but try getting it filled anywhere anytime.....you could get hozed.

Agree 100% on the Speed density vs Mass air. Gm's Efi is very straightforward and reliable. I have owned many different efi powered rigs and the stock gm setups are the best. I would also say getting a complete camaro/vette/ pickup motor is the way to go. If you throw a tpi or tbi on top of a carb engine you already have it may not run as clean and smooth as you would expect.

I have aftermarket accel 4bbl tbi setup sitting in a box if you are interested. Bought it new for a 40 series I had, took it off when I sold it.
