Hey Guys,
I was adjusting the rear brakes on the Pig today, but I was having some problems. Since I'm missing the little rubber plugs which plug the wheel cylinder adjustmet access holes, water and mud have made their way in there at various points in time, resulting in the ceasing of the threaded adjusting piece. I took the wheel, and drum off, and pounded on the notches on the notched deal (forgive my vocabulary on these pieces; I have no idea what their proper names are). This broke it loose on the left side wheel cylinders, but the right side ones refused to budge. So I took the shoes off and tried to use a pair of vise-grips on an ear of the threaded male end. Of course it broke. So if I can, I would like to just get one of the male threaded pieces to rerplace this broken one, instead of having to get a whole new WC. If anyone has any parts w/c's lying around that I could get that part from, I'd be greatly appreciative. If not then it's off to Napa or Spectre.
I'm taking both cylinders to work tonite to try to get them freed. If I end up busting both of them, or breaking some other part, then I'll prolly just get new ones......and some rubber plugs!
BTW it's a 77 FJ 55, but I'm sure at least these pieces are the same on all FJ's of around the same era, 71-80.

i recently got rid of all the original stuff i had left over from mine, otherwise i'd be able to hook you up.

That's cool man. I went ahead and bought the one I needed from MAF for $30. I was able to free the other one up last night. The one important thing I did find out is that the threads for the adjuser are left handed. This was in the rear right, so I'm not completely sure about the other cylinders. Just to let everyone know and learn from me, the threads are left-hand, and it's supposed to be good maintenence to apply some anti-sieze to the threads, probably to keep them from doing what exactly happened to me. I last adjusted those brakes about a year or so ago.
