Hello, I am in need of a recommendation for a good repair shop, I am from the Rio Grande valley and I was wondering if anyone knew of any shops down here. I am very reluctant to use the local dealerships as I went in for quote on a new water pump for my 92 LC and they quoted me 1300.00 parts and labor (had it taken care of elsewhere). I would be willing to drive up to San Antonio (280 miles one way). My current issue is that I just bought a 94 LC with over 250,000 miles, I started to change out the fluids and do general maintenance. Upon changing the diff fluid I found what could be best described as dark grey pancake mix, really thick, I guess the seals are gone and I am getting grease in with the oil. I put fresh gear oil and plan on refilling the knuckles until I can get it into the shop. Wondering if it can be driven any considerable distance this way or if I should just tow it up there if no local shops exist. The birfs are clicking as well. I have read various threads on the birfs and I feel its best left to someone who knows what they are doing (on that can anyone give me an idea how much dinero a birfield job would cost?). Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Joined the group not to long ago, first post here. Wish I could attend the gatherings.

Rio Grande Valley is about 280 miles south of San Antonio (Mcallen, Harlingen, Brownsville, and most notable South Padre Island), thanks for the info, hopefully someone knows of a shop down here.
