I have a stock 97 that runs but has knocks and large oil leaks. 245k. I was going to sell it but can't talk myself into it. I need a good source for a reliable 1fzfe and can't find anybody that can help locally. It's in Las Vegas, and I work in Salt Lake. It needs knuckle therapy and a few other things, but has a very solid body and interior. If anyone has a connection or some good info on a trusted source for an engine, I would appreciate the help.
Thanks in advance...

Sir, please call Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters. He is in Salt Lake.

I've got an engine in my parts 95 in my garage that could be rebuilt. Ran fine when parked! :) (located in Bountiful, UT)

I would work with you to pull it or charge to pull it myself. I've never pulled an engine before but it might be time.

Is your cruiser in Las Vegas?
I’m in vegas and may be able to help if you need.
Yes. It's located in LV. I live there, but I'm working in SLC for a few months. Will be back for Thanksgiving. I looked around and asked several people, but wasn't able to find anybody willing or knowledgeable enough to tackle it. What do you have?

I have tools, engine hoist, I just don’t have space. I’ve done the head gasket on my ‘94 and am currently rebuilding a 2F. Are you looking to get a used motor, or rebuild your current one?

I can't find anyone to do a rebuild or find a decent donor for a swap. Im really not sure what direction to take. I don't know a machine shop to do a rebuild. I'm working in Salt Lake and traveling between here and Vegas. My 80 is parked and now is the perfect time to drop it off for a rebuild or swapif I could find a low mileage donor. Needs knuckle therapy also. It's getting very frustrating to say the least

I went by to see them today. They are no longer in the repair business. Strictly parts. They were very nice, and I'll probably use them for bumpers, accessories once I'm road ready. Back on the hunt for a good place to rebuild my 1fzfe or find a low mile transplant. Thanks for the info tho

Yes. It's in LV. I tried a few places for a complete rebuild but had no luck finding anyone with the time or knowledge to tackle it.

You could try
Fultz machine shop

I’m not sure if they do complete assembly. They rebuilt a head for my 1FZ, it’s been running great.

I'm just in centerville and have pulled a few 1fz's if you need a hand

There's also some very competent places to rebuild the engine in the salt lake area, but that's probably not useful to you

I haven't found anyone to do it in LV. Im working in the SLC area for an extended period of time, so I would probably have it towed here if I could find a competent shop to do the work. Any help would be appreciated. I'm anxious to get it done and back on the road. Will need knuckle therapy and lift/suspension work as well.

Order a new crate motor and take it to cruiser outfitters, have them do new suspension and rebuild the knuckles while it is there.

This would be an expensive route but you get what you pay for!!!

I went there yesterday. They aren't doing repairs any longer. Only sales. They referred me to a guy and I stopped there only to find out that he doesn't do engine work either. Knuckles, lift, etc but nothing engine related. Dead end at Cruiser Outfitters for anything other than aftermarket parts. Nice guy but not doing repair of any type any longer.

It shouldn't be hard to find somebody that will swap in a new motor if your willing to pay for a new short block.

If your willing to get a new short block than I can definitely find you a mechanic in Saint George to do the work.

If your serious about buying a new short block than send me a PM. I know a lot of different mechanics in Saint George.

If you're just wanting to outsource the work Metric motors in centerville will pull the motor and/or rebuild it. I have used them several times and always have at least a few older cruisers. Fantastic work.

Oooohhh...not to hijack, but tell me more about this "Metric Motors" place and what services they offer. I go to Casey at PointS in Woods Cross. He's pretty good, but sometimes he skips some of the things I think are important.

I've had them do everything from resurfacing a flywheel to rebuilding a few heads, and a couple full 1fzs. They not only bring everything to tolerance, but to nominal so there's no tolerance stack. A result of this is you get there shortblock fully assembled. They've done performance builds on other cruisers.

Kind of shop who's owner built it himself, is super passionate and has almost a full careers with of knowledge. They'll take time to answer all your questions and will let you go in back to watch work, even other cool projects. They'll also do the full r&r if you don't want to pull the motor yourself.

Finally, the dudes a whizz with aluminum repair. Check out this boss I broke on the oil pan ($50)
