took mine to the machine shop today and the guy said they are pretty hard to fix if they are cracked.. I live in Oregon. any help would be great. it has 236k on her and the valve cover had a couple of inches worth of nasty in it.

thanks
Noah

I imported a 3F-E head last year from the US as part of a 2F-E build . It cost me an arm and three legs .
This has me concerned - is it a common problem ( 3F-E head failure ? )

BTW I got mine in the classifieds

I would look for a new engine, all that work to the head, then a failing bottom end would suck.

I mention this because of your comment on "a couple of inches of nasty" on the valve cover. If it's caked on the valve cover, then it's likely caked in the engine. This could mean blocked oil ports and poor oiling on bearings and cylinder walls.

it is at the machine shop now. i dont think it is all that common for them to crack. i know the risk of not rebuilding the lower part but i am trying to sell as well. so another 2k into the motor just sell is not really a choice for me at this point.

and my next question is, can i put an 92 3fe head on my 88 3fe?? found a motor that needs rebuilt for pretty cheap but it is out of an fj80

I have 2 in California. PM me if you are interested.

Yep. They crack on the top. Never do a HG without having it mangafluxed.

I've been waiting on a rebuilt for about three weeks.
