Do you mean that they are siezed up and wont release or that they won't catch?

I found a guy parting out a rig when my DS belt crapped out. I think you can get them from Cruiserparts.net for about $20, iirc.

They dont catch. I have taken them apart and tried to identify the problem. its almost as if there is to much seat belt on the roll. But after reinstalling the still dont catch regardless how hard you pull.

If there's too much on the roll, are they properly installed? If they're grey, they're from a late truck, and should have the retractor mounted to the rollbar, the loose end to the floor outside the seat, behind and below the seat, and of course the latch behind the inboard side. That takes up alot of footage. Are these in a pre 79 truck?

Crap! Strike all the above, I forgot I was in the 60 section! :crybaby:

I can't offer any advice on that one.... I had one that was the exact opposite, it wouldn't release. I was able to massage it into working correctly. Good Luck. Check Cruiserparts.net.

Take them out again and tip them toward the front, do they lock then? I can't remember if they lock when pulled fast or if they have the little inertia ball that rolls forward when braking. I think they engage only when the ball rolls forward.

That is correct. They don't lock up from pulling hard, but from the little metal ball that hangs down from the bottom moving forward. This is caused by an impact, obviously.
Ask me how I know: I thought mine were not functional, since yanking on them did not make them lock up. So I bought brand new ones from Cruiser Dan, and installed them. They still did not lock up just from pulling hard, so I figured out the problem...

take them out, push the ball forward, and see if they lock up.
