All,

@Plains Cruiser, @solomrus, @Greyota, @Cursivearmy, and @Franks 86 HJ61

You are getting this cuz you got into Solid Axle Summit #9 or you are on the waiting list.

I thought I'd start this thread as a place were we Huskers can chat, ask questions, plan etc. I don't know about others, but Erik & I went last year and we can answer as much as we can. Feel fee to ask the larger group too.

I'm going to drop a few photos from last year to get the excitement up....

Really looking forward to it guys. Those pics definitely help too.

Frank - Bryan and Rus told me about your rig, that looks very cool.

Oh man, I hope we get off the waiting list. I logged on in the morning and then forgot to register, looked that evening and dang, closed.

Brian thanks for this, you and Erik looked like you had a blast last year!

I pick my 80 up this next Monday, it’s been down with Jason Harris at Ozark overland outfitters since august, and I’d be soo stoked to make the trip this year to the SAS.

Erik was on the waitlist last year and got called but his 80 started pissing coolant all over and was not worthy.

The wait list start to shake loose around May as people start to see August date not workable. And more happen right up until go time.

IMO - you and Frank should reserve a place - as I understand it people on the waitlist will be able to secure a space before the KOA opens up to the public

Which 80 is yours?

Squirrel— thread jack 🙄

Living through the forum for trips like these. In due time.

Rus and I were talking food today while working on Yellr.

The TX crew had a meal plan - where the all chipped in come cabbage and cooked for all who paid.

We could think about doing something similar - and or maybe I can reach out and see if we can send them cabbage and join theirs. One night they had a lot of extra and Erik and I got some good TX grub.

Just a thought and plenty of time.

Corbin, we will get you out! Even if we all go to you - your hiding spot was sweet.

PS. I have the gussets ready to send to you. They are even in the USPS box!

This is all very helpful, I’ll look into the KOA reservation. The pictures above and following along last year really get you stoked about the event, hope to make it.

to answer the question about which 80 is mine, must mean you’ve been at the shop. It’s the emerald green 94 that came in super beat. But Jason and crew fixed all the rust and repainted it. Things snowballed, as these projects do, and it’s coming home a ton better thanks to them.

I saw a trip though KS - the road goes north to south...

Flint Hills Route or something like that.

Edit: It is that...

here is the link.... I see making another trip thread to explore - slowly.
Flint Hills Adventure Route - CalTopo - https://caltopo.com/m/M7JEU

Man I want a 40 trip so bad I can taste it. Big trips are on hold for a bit though with kiddo 4 in a few weeks.

But I do owe my oldest a birthday trip. This year it will be delayed a bit due to new baby. But it will happen. Maybe Kansas it is.

I’m at Jason’s weekly. I’ve known him a very long time and we work together on the tire and alignment side of things. I buy parts from him for my rigs.

I wondered if that one was yours based on the avatar picture.. It’s such a transformation. It in all honestly looks brand new. We did an alignment on it and my tech even commented on how nice it was. To the point he thought it was all original and that nice.

Jason has some of the best paint work I’ve been around. His crew is great. Facility is everything you could ask for.

oh wow! I should have figured when I saw your location! that's so cool that you guys are pals, I have enjoyed every single part of having my cruiser down there with them. it's been an absolute pleasure, I look forward to the Friday pictures each week on the updates, they have done so much work I'm really looking forward to seeing it! I don't know if you saw it before they started, which was like 1 day after I dropped it off, but it was in really bad shape, other than it was from Montana and not too rusty besides the drivers side rocker panel, junk yard hood, wrecked core support, all from the previous owner. From what I can tell in the photos its a different 80, they are awesome at what they do! sorry for the ramble, and I'll get back on track for this thread. it will be my nicest Toyota, and makes me nervous to use it, but if the guy he built that 1hdt swapped collectors 80 for can take it out and bury it in a bog, and that truck has like 5 times the money it, I can go to Colorado and drive mountain roads :)

Says problems when I click the photo. Can you embed it/upload it instead?

Never mind fixed
wonder how I delete that one, I tried to upload a video, but screwed up. now its stuck there.

finally, I'm a moron, here is an old pic of the 80, I loved it beat like this, so it'll be really cool to see it all fixed but by Jason and the crew.
