Once we got back on the power line road (detour) I let my 10 year old drive for the first time.

As you can see the road is very well maintained and there is nobody around. A little nervous but he did great.

This was the most nerve racking part of the whole trail. This wash “road/trail” is pretty far out there. The detour that is recommended requires a short but too steep climb out of the wash. I used the GAIA app and was able to map my way through the wash. This meant that if something went wrong there would not be anybody around. So it was a bit nervous. The boys helped me find the trail and we were eventually able to make it to a mine road in the Lanfair Valley.

The detour was between 15-25 miles around the Piute mnts into the Lanfair Valley. The mine road had some ruts from previous rain but nothing too serious.

Sorry for the delay.

Once we went around the 2nd mountain ridge from Piute Valley to Lanfair Valley through the wash we got back on the Mojave Road.

The Lanfair Valley is beautiful. There is huge cactus everywhere and it just happened that the time of day just lent itself Perfect to enjoy the desert right before sunset.

There are a few tracks so it can get confusing at times to know if you are on the actual Mojave Road. The old military road parallels the Mojave Road most of the way and it is easy to get them confused

Nice shots of the Joshua Trees! Folks say you either love 'em or hate 'em... I find this to be true, at least in my family; my wife hates the things and I love them. They are protected because they take so dang long to grow... About 60 years to come to maturity and they often live in excess of 500 years. Glad you enjoyed them!

Awesome videos Del! I would have chosen different music, but that's more personal preference than anything :P

YouTube only has limited choices. And my YouTube teacher didn’t show me how to pick music. Don’t worry. Next one will have your favorite music.
Techno / dance?

Nah. Brittany Spears

I really enjoy the Joshua trees and the desert in general.

The deserts of CA, especially the High Deserts are some of my favorite places ever. The only time i'm not in Awe when i'm out there is when a Cholla Cactus gets me.

I swear those damn things move, their nickname is the jumping cholla. I can look down at my feet, look up, look down again and there is a cactus in my boot. LOL

Great Videos!!!
