post ho
Berni and i did a putz on some back roads this morning like we do most sunday mornings and i came across a "no exit" road.
hummm, i think we should go down this one and see what it is like.
i remembered the other end of it from last weekend on our way back from Collingwood.
after about 15 mins of puttering along this tight side road we came to the first mud hole, lock the hubs, put it in 4 low and start to go slowly but i am thinking this looks more decieving than first impressions so i lock the lockers too and drop in. with the 35s street tires i find i am doing some slipping and sliding and the idling through is getting slower by the second. ... hummm soft!!
just over the next knoll the side road gets REAL tight and is looking really soft so we stop and walk it. little billie is sinking in the mud ... wow.
there are fallen trees over the road so this hasn't been used for a while.
we walk along another side path to the other end and it is very soft too... i SO want to give it a shot but one truck by itself on street tires might not be such a good idea.
i think to myself i wonder if i can get a couple other guys to make this "reopening" happen.
so i am making the call,
does anyone want to make the drive up to tackle some challenging road?
tow hooks front and rear mandatory
working winch would be nice
mud tires strongly recommended
another chain saw would be nice too.
and bug deterent would be wise.
i am guessing it is about 1/4 mile of nasty so count on about 4 hours to get the trucks through.
anyone interested?
side note: i beleive i have a yank making the 8 hour drive up to have me look over his truck and he mentioned he would like to do "some wheelin".
between this road and the other "non-maintained" road we could make a good day out of it.
