After changing the tranny and tcase oil last week, I've got mystery stink.

I say Stink, because I don't see a leak.

I suspect the "mechanic" overfilled each (tcase and tranny) by just a little bit, he was quick with the plug after pulling out the filler hose. But he couldn't have gotten that much extra in.

Any ideas?

I need to spend some time w/ flashlight looking for leaks, but at first glance I see nothing.

I do smell it strongly in the cab (hate 90w smell) but I think the smell is coming in from outside as it seems stronger with the windows down at 25-40 kph (10-25mpg, ish). At idle, I don't notice it much. At 90kph (55mph) I don't notice it much.

Very frustrating.

All comments welcome.

My 60 stinks like that because the seal between the T-case and Tranny has failed (hence the user name Stinkyfj60)

I'd say some may have spilled in the process and it's burning off somewhere under the vehicle, maybe the exhaust..

Yeah if they don't remove the skid plate then there's gonna be a lotta oil sitting on it for a while. You can access the drain and fill plugs through holes in the skid plate while it's still installed, but tou can't avoid spilling.............I found ou the hard way..........

I'll poke around, maybe try some simple green to cut it down some

thanks!
