Set the valves and timing on the 87' FJ60 yesterday, and when I got done I have a mystery hose. It runs off the bottom of what I think is the Air bypass valve (toward the front and slightly below the carb). It is about 10" long and about 1.5" in diameter, and for the life of me, I cant find where it goes to. The truck doesnt seem to run any different with it plugged or unplugged, and it isnt pulling any vaccuum. I am partially desmogged, and will be fully soon, if that matters. If the description isnt enough, I can go take a pic.

Thanks, Hodag

its prolly the drain off hose from your HAC "high altitude compensator".

Thanks guys. I have a ton of hair, but I damn near pulled it out trying to find the other end of that damn hose. If its a drain, should I leave it hanging downward? Right now it is resting up by the master cyl, waiting to find out where it belongs.

Thanks, Hodag

1.5" dia? Sounds more like a hose for the air injection system. Maybe its the hose directing air into the exhaust stream ahead of the cat? A 1/2" OD hose hanging down to the top of the front shock is the HAC vent.

Sorry, in my first post I should have typed 1/2" OD. Now that I looked at it again it has to be the vent tube. Thanks for catching my typo.
