Guys, I'm hearing a wind noise up in the corner of the driver's side door window whenever I'm driving down the highway with a crosswind. It seems to be coming from the area of the roof rack fairing (attached photo).

The noise sounds like a goose honking and is not consistant, other than it happens when there is a strong cross wind.

Is the seal around the fairing installed correctly? Are there known causes for such a wind noise?

Just bought an '05 and fixing all the little stuff that I notice.

Any ideas?

I went out and pulled the weather strip out of the windshield channel and cleaned all the dirt and crud out. There was a 1/2" gap at the top, so when I put it back in I started at the top with no gap and worked my way down to the bottom. Maybe the gap was acting like a whistle. Don't know.

We shall see tomorrow driving to work.

Where are the cross braces of your roof rack fastened?

The back third of the rails. They appear to never have been used.

If your thinking these are the source of the noise, I can say that the noise is definitely coming from that front fairing or the upper weather strip of the windshield. Not further back.
