I didn't think so, but thought I'd ask anyway. When you do start to fix it, remember to tap lightly with the hammer. Many light taps, as hard bangs will embrittle/harden the steel. Can't remember who told me that, could have been a body man I knew or maybe Ryan.

Sometimes you have it to hit it hard, but what you say is true, repeated hard blows will work harden the metal.

I was taught that the hammer should ring, ding or sing with every blow. That means that your dolly is in the right place. I was also taught to drag the hammer a bit with every blow. There is also a whole set of motions to elbow movement that I learn from Brad while doing some blacksmithing. Hammering can be quite complicated when done correctly!

Yep, that's clearly described in the bible.

Goddammit Dan, I wasn't gonna bother with it but now you got me thinking. Harbor Freight has a set of metalworking hammers/dollies for $30. I passed on them two weekends ago because I wasn't going to deal with it. I can't afford the Martin stuff. Damn you. Alright, I guess it's going on THE LIST.

Jeez, Dave, don't hold back. Say what you really mean!

You're about as subtle as a hand gernade in a bowl of oatmeal! I'm appalled!
