I have a DVD player in my truck. While driving down the street, the speakers will just go out and then come back on (eventually). When they go out there is a little bit of "static" that you will hear. After a while they will just come back on. Can anyone tell me what is happening? What can I check to see what the problem is? How do I take off each of the door speakers to see if some wires are touching? Please help. Thanks!

If they are all going out, it may very well be your amplifier. Look at the thread in the FAQ, then hit e-bay for a good deal on speakers and headunit, replace all for about $300, you'll be glad you did.

If they are all going out at the same time, I wouldn't go into the doors. Sounds like a wiring issue right outside of the aftermarket head unit.

It's not the amp. The amp was bypassed when the DVD player was installed. It really sounds like there are some wires touching or something. I checked behind the DVD player and all the wires seem to be connected "OK". That is why I am thinking that it may be that some speaker wires (behind the speaker) may be touching. So, one of my options was to ensure that the wires behind all my speakers are securely fastened. Mainly my front door speakers and dashboard speakers, but how do I take them out so I can check in the first place?

Search the faq thread, I and several others took detailed photos and write-ups are already there. I think I even went screw by screw in my description.....

Sure sounds like a grounded speaker lead somewhere..... If they are factory speakers I would not suspect this as much, but if they are aftermarket, check all the leads, and if the terminals could be touching any metal as you mount the speaker. If you get that far, you might as well unplug the speaker and check to see you have a blown speaker. Best way to do that is use a multimeter and measure impedance, should be around 4 ohms. A less accurate but cheap way is to hook up a couple of wires to a 9v battery and tap them on the speaker leads, the speaker will move, but if it sounds crunchy, it is most likely blown.

as far as taking it apart, follow Cruisin Carolina's lead......... good luck

Grounded speaker lead? What's that? How do I check it? They are all factory speakers. I might also add that my driver's door speaker plays sometimes and sometimes not. Any more suggestions? Thanks!

If they are factory speakers I highly doubt anything in the doors. Unless you are dealing with lots of rust that has caused metal to fall onto the speaker contacts.
A grounded speaker lead would be one of the wires or contact touching a metal ground - highly unlikely on a factory install. Like most everyone else, it sounds like a wiring issue somewhere prior to the speakers themselves.
