Is this cause for concern. the rear left does not move at all but i can move the rear right shock about and 1 inch. is this cause for concern or nothing to worry about. thanks so much for your opinions.

I have the Ome heavy duty set up dont know if that makes a difference

What do you mean...you can twist it? Is the shock bolted tight to the frame?

Definitely need more info, like does the bolt lightly compress the bushing? When you say it moves, does it slide in and out or side to side? Top or bottom mount?

NY,

Yes.

Do a better job of describing what's moving and what direction. To me, moving a shock around it's axis (the axis of a tubular object is an imaginary line along its length) is strange. No clue what you're meaning, tho...?

I guess axis was a bad choice of words

it slides not where it attaches on the top to the frame i guess but on the where it is attached on the botttom there is some play. it moves in relation to the truck from front to the rear. At the point where it the end of it is. the round part on the top of the shock.

OK, I think I know where now. You are refering to the bottom mount where there is an "eye" ?

If so, you have a shot or missing bushing at that mounting point.

Yes def bottom mount

seems as though a missing bushing indeed not sure though why it moves not very much but is this something to worry about?

thanks dan

I would replace the bushing/s or shocks if it were mine. If the shocks are OEM, you can obtain replacemnt bushings.

Think of it this way: if the bushing is old enough to be toast, the rest of the shock is likely also tired. You can get a complete set of OEM shocks, with bushings, for less than a hundred bucks. OME shocks are around 80 dollars a piece. They also include new bushings of a type suited to that shock.
