I have been looking at 40's for about a year and a half now and after seeing all those beautiful trucks at roundup, the bug bit me hard. I wasn't going to settle, so I was slowly looking for the right one. I recently saw a classified on mud for this one out of Reno. The guy lost his shop and needed to sell it. It had a 350 V8 conversion, sm420 transmission, was dune beige (my favorite Landcruiser color), high steering kit installed, 35/14.5/15 Super Swamper TSL's with nice chrome wheels and matching spare, was dune beige (my favorite Landcruiser color), York onboard air with 2 gallon tank, is fuel injected, has cobra cb with antenna, 10 disk cd changer, stock as well auxillary fuel tanks, was dune beige (my favorite Landcruiser color), Yota mini truck outers with disk brakes, power steering conversion, Warn 8274 winch with in cab toggle switch, was dune beige (my favorite Landcruiser color), rock lights underneath, soft top with doors, bikini top with half doors, hard top with doors, was dune beige (my favorite Landcruiser color), confer roof rack with brackets to mount to the full family roll cage, rear bench seat with under seat storage, hi-lift jack, strap, sprung over with shackle reversal, hand throttle on the gear shifter, rock sliders, and did I mention it was dune beige my favorite Landcruiser color?
I am sure that I forgot to list something, but needless to say, it appears ready to wheel. I will need to shake it down and find out what is not working and what is, also....I need to figure out what some of this stuff is and how to use it. Any way, I'm sure it will be fun. Special thanks to Jason H. for putting up with all the phone calls and trips to look at trucks.....
I left here Thursday morning at 7am and drove straight through to Holbrook, AZ. Part of the deal was that the owner agreed to deliver it half way on his own dime. I arrived in Holbrook at about 9pm central, ate at Denny's, the only place I could find and waited on the owner to arrive. He got there at about 10pm CST, we drove it, kicked the tires, made the exchange, loaded and headed for home at 1130pm CST. I made it to Grants, NM. where I got a room at the Holiday Inn Express for a couple hours sleep before heading the rest of the way home. I pulled in to the house at about 1040pm last night, hit the pillow and slept til 10am this morning. I'm still tired, but excited at the same time. I only hope that it turns out to be everything it is supposed to be.
