Looks like A/C no tilt wheel maybe no P/S.

Still a real survivor. The mileage is incredible. The only reason it still has the stripes and a good dash is it has been inside for the last 28 years.

Yep, AC blows real cold, has Power Steering and tilt.
The guy used it in the summer time for fishing trips, and then stored it inside during the winter. The bed sides have some small dents and scratches, but I am going to preserve it in this state, rather than painting over the original paint. I love this truck!

Yep

I graduated high school in 81 and there were a ton of these trucks bought as first cars for teenage boys.
Everyone of my friends that had one, beat the crap out of them. Weber carbs, headers 35+" tires and wheels.
Its weird, you usually can find good condition survivors of just about any car/truck, but I havent seen hardly any of these trucks, especially with the stock wheels and hubcaps.
Thank goodness this was an adult owned truck.
It does have a bunch of annoying bed "dents" from stuff sliding from side to side in the bed, but when I saw this truck for the first time, I looked right past those and was amazed at the overall condition.
 
Rust is your worst enemy- start spraying the problem areas with metal protectant. They salt the roads here in NC and I have good luck so far with Amsoil MP- dries to a waterproof coating.
 
Man, that makes me miss my 1980 model. I might have to start looking again...
 
Winch

Yes it works but its only a 3500 lb. He used it to winch his boat out of the water on his fishing trips.

*ReBadged/Similarly formulated to the old goto, Boeshield T-9. Used by Boeing (of course..duh) and all of us geeks with custom and semi-custom chromoly steel bikes. Best stuff i have used so far.

I usually will use some warmed up oil, usually when I have just done my oil change, and using a rag, hit as much of the undercarriage as possible. The idea being is you're using the oil as a cleaner, while also a sealer. You wipe off the excess, and if you find a problem area, clean and paint prep it immediately. The oil stinks, so wear nitrile gloves, but will, if done properly clean up any collected dirt/grime. Then, spray the Boeshield over it, as it has a waxoyl mixture that will cure to a paste type seal. I'll try to get a pic if you want w/i the next 2000 miles as it's now been 3 oil changes since I last did this.

Be sure to go ahead and regrease your suspension and steering as it's possible some grease has dried up over time. If you have the little (8mm?) nuts on the joints, don't listen to the reply "Oh they're greaseless..."

Pick up a zerk fitting, usually $ .25-$ .50 at any auto store, then use it and replace the nut when done. Use only graphite lube for the bushings, as most wax lubes, Wd-40, etc will slowly rot them out.

Looks awesome! I got an '80 with 109K on it a while bacl for $250 but it's not near as cherry as that... X2 on the stock wheels, they look vintage and cool, because they are. Are those BFGs just the 235s or are they 30x9.50s?
 
Tires

The pics at the beginning of this thread were 30x9.50 x15 BFG muds. I replaced those with 31x 10.50 x 15 BFG muds in the pic with the red camper shell.
 
So I take it with the 4 speed and 4.37s it turns the 31s down the road just fine?

I haven't had a set of 31s on mine yet but the gearing seems like it would do all right with them on the highway and not dog out...
 
Its a little sluggish off the start, but no clutch slipping needed. I havent had it at 65-70 mph lately, but if i recall correctly, it was around 3500rpm.
