Here are my intial upgrades to my GX 460. I put on white (aka "Salt") Nomad Convoy wheels, Toyo Open Country tires and got a Bilstein 5100 leveling kit instslled. I love the utilitarian look of the car now and the ride quality has improved substantially. I'm not ready to cut my bumper just yet, but I might remove the black "lip" that sits under the bumper (not sure what that thing is called bb it it protects the radiator) and install a small plate from AKFabCo. We'll see. Just thought I'd share.

It's amazing that adding a (properly sized) lift and larger sidewall tires make an already great riding vehicle, actually ride better!
If you plan on any trails at all, I highly suggest your next purchase be sliders, probably aluminum if you're not really into harder trails. The aluminum sliders will at least protect you from the occasional rut, tree stump, rock that happens even on very mild fire roads.

I appreciate the suggestion. I have watched quite a few YouTube videos of slider installations, but I'm still on the fence about whether I want to purchase them at this point. Any suggestions on some sliders that won't break the bank (and by bank, I'm thinking less than $1000 to $1500 bucks)?

My RCI sliders where $900 on sale last year. I've been happy with them.

remember to factor in shipping, which is considerable for big pieces of heavy metal. Most of the popular manufacturers have sales that help offset the shipping cost.

My bad, I actually meant your next purchase should be skid plates for all your under carriage protection.
Sliders are nice if you should tip into something on the side like a rock or tree.
But since we're on the topic of sliders, they are a HUGE safety advantage if you should ever be T-boned on the side. It can save you/your passengers lives, reduce what could be major impact damage to much less damage, etc. Ask me how I know...
Wait, I'll just tell you. My rig is very, if not overly built for overlanding, you can get an idea of it here: Builds - R²M 2013 GX 460 Overland Build - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/r-m-2013-gx-460-overland-build.1104719/
I was T-boned a few years ago and because I had good quality rock sliders instead of the factory plastic side steps, it keep my rig from possibly being totaled. The total damage was a new rear passenger door and some molding on the passenger front door, new rock sliders to replace the damaged ones and of course matching paint. If I didn't have the sliders protecting the side of my vehicle, I'm sure the impact would have dented in the body at the B-pillar, thus totaling the vehicle.
Also, some manufacturers offer their armor products unpainted, thus at a lower price, if you don't mind doing a little Rust-Oleum out on the driveway on a warm afternoon!
