Hey Christo

Thanks for waying in on this! Yea I do expect my 80 to feel pretty funky until I can get the weight on the front and back that the kit was designed for. really though I would have to save for a long time to be able to throw the 6" kit, tires, front and back bumpers and sliders on all at once. This will also give me more to look forward to down the road, so no worries!

I will be talking to you in the next month or two place and order for the kit.

Thanks again,

Evan

John, you should also point out that yours is probably worse than most since you do not have a rear bumper and probably are at 7" of lift. We will be running test shocks at Cruise Moab. We should soon have longer direct bolt in's for the 6" kit.

Very true and very good news. Please keep me posted.

Morning all,

So Last night I was thinking about the extended break lines that come in the kit. Do you think I should have a shop install these and bleed and setup the breaks before we install the kit? I have been reading about bleeding breaks and such and understand that this should really be done by a shop. This would also allow us to just worry about the meat and potatoes of the kit so to speak and not have to spend the hour or two messing with the breaks.

I picked up a 2nd job with the college doing light daytime maintenance, This will mean I'm working 9am till 10Pm mon-thursday and 8-4 on friday. lot of work but it also means about $700 more per month. So I should be able to spend some good cash on the 80 over the next year or so.

Here is a cut and past from slee showing all that will need to be installed.

2 x SOF5FM Front Coil Springs
2 x SOF5RM Rear Coil Springs
Could be replaced with SOF5RH Heavy Springs depending on load)
2 x N73L Shocks
2 x N74L Shocks
1 x SD24 Steering Damper
1 x Slee Front Control Arms with Urethane Bushings
1 x Double Cardan drive shaft.
1 x Front Sway-bar Drop Kit
1 x Rear Sway-bar Drop it
1 x Rear 2" Bump Stop Drop Blocks
1 x Front 2" Bump Stop Drop Blocks
1 x Set Stainless Steel Extended Brake Lines
1 x Front Panhard Rod
1 x Rear Panhard Rod
1 x Set Adjustable Rear Upper Control Arms
2 x Breather Extensions
1 x Emergency Brake Cable drop bracket

I was also thinking of getting these along with it as I have a couple of months before we install.

2 x heavy duty lower rear control arms with bushings
1 x Rod end set.
1 x relay link.
1 x tie rod.

I know this is a lot of stuff to install. Still willing to help me conquer it? I promise to do all the bleeding.

Wow I'm long winded this morning. OK off to work.

Thanks all,

If I had to do it over I would have the brake lines installed before the kit at a shop. That was the only pain about the kit. I don't know why but I had a lot of trouble with the lines on my rig. I have done brakes in the past without a problem but my LX caused me problems. Also with the brake lines done you can articulate the axle to fit the springs without spring compressors.....ie much easier.

Thanks for the advice. Sounds like something I should have done before then.

can I put wheel spacers on now as well or will the truck drive funny with them on stock with no lift?

Doesn't matter when you put the spacers on. Actually putting them on know will let you know if they change anything by themselves. They do make the steering ever so slightly more wondering, very slight. Put them on and let us know what you think the difference is.

Hey guys just a little update. I was just about to get the last $500 or so together that would put me over the top for the 6" slee bolt on- $3400 shiped - but then I saw her! This is the 5th edition to my bicycle stable and I really did not "need" her but deal was just to good.

She's a Iron horse hollowpoint Team HP. Made completely from 7005 series double butted Aluminum. She has SRAM X.0 front and back Derailurs along with X.0 Rapid fire shifters, FSA Carbon Fiber Crank set with the splined ISIS drive, A Manitou Minute 3:00 front Shock and a 5th element rear shock( giving her 5" of rear wheel travel and 130mm of front). Mavic Crossmax Xl tubeless wheel set, Thopson seat post and head stem, Hayes hydrolic front and back disc brakes and Carbon / Ti Time ATAC pedals Took her for her first ride out to Fantasy Island in Tucson today. She did great! a little dialing in of the shocks for my weight and she with Climb like a rocket and decend like a full on Downhill rig.

Soooo this put me back a little in my 6" slee plans. ETA about 4 months:crybaby: Good thing s come to those who wait though.

Thanks guys he are some pics

Stay out of the bike shop!!!!!!!!

Enjoy your bike!

And if it helps...the Slee 6" lift got me my first stuck ever yesterday. Those front control arms hang just too low. I drove over the same rock without trouble in my last 80. I might rip the arms off or do something else.....like just sell the truck.

Rod's 100 (built into a complete clone of my 100) was the first known to run the entire Gap. I have not due to bad brush. The killer was when Rod climbed the Step and every bit as easily as the 4", 4.5" and my 6" lifted 80's. Why I have the LX450 I just don't know.

It will probably go up for sale soon. (And I've got about $26K in it.
