I have a 1952 M100 I picked up a few years ago and am now able to do more with and to to get it more equipped for the trail. First, I built (with a little help) an aluminum lid and powder coated it at work. The lid has hood struts to help keep it from closing on you. I added some cheapie LED tailight/signal combos to the tail end, and most recently added a battery mounted in a marine type box up front on the inside. I added an LED strip to inside of the lid so if or when I show up to camp after dark, I can see all of my gear inside my M100. I added my Eezi-Awn roof top tent at the same time. Here is the trailer so far. I have big plans for it over the winter on into spring. I will try to keep current updates as I go.

The lid look great!

Any details on how you built it?

The LED lid light is a brilliant idea!

Eleblanc had a set of drawings that he put up on Mud years n years ago for a Canadian M101 trailer. I adapted a set of my own drawings based on dimensions I took off of my M100 incorporating the different changes and features I wanted. Then with the help of my brother, put it into motion. It turned out really well, is very rigid and sturdy but without the extra weight of steel since I made mine out of aluminum.

The LED light was an idea I had after having to dig into your stuff after dark. Flashlights require a hand to hold onto them. Headlamps usually do the trick but this way it is brighter and the lid is held up by the hood struts. The light is on when the lid is open and doesn't have to be held, so it makes life a bit easier. No power draw and is pretty bright. The photo doesn't do it real justice but I don't have any of it in the dark.

Thanks for the compliments gentlemen.
