Does it use steam or hot water and some kind of degreaser ??:meh:

Just watched a YouTube video. Pretty handy to have access to that baby!

It's pretty knarly. Don't remember what kind of "detergent" it uses even though I'm the one who orders it. It also runs at 180 degrees!

Since I can't work on the 4.0 until I have a water pump(by next weekend), I'll work on the 4.5.
Did some vac hose replacing on the vac rack under the plenum. Took some pictures and did one hose at a time. Need more hose + some other sizes I thought I had some of. :bang:
After I get the hoses replaced I'll look at/ test the vsv's. There's 4 of them under there. California...yipee!:bang:
How do you like my work station? :hmm:

Looking cleaner for sure. I just got done finally changing the spark plugs in Daphne's Mazda MPV. Had to pull air filter box, MAF sensor unit, throttle body, a buttload of cables and hoses and then the entire intake manifold- just to change the plugs!! I would have liked to plop all that stuff in your "dishwasher". Keep up the good work Russ. Gonna make it all the way into Sourdough this year- even if we have to ride with you! :hillbilly:

Got a start on the 4.0 water pump.
made some room to get to it.:hmm:
certainly was leaking. :bang:
more tomorrow.:crybaby:

p.s. mean while the 4.5 sits...lonely...just waiting:steer:

Well, it's back together. What a day. Rain, sun and windy and cold all day.
Still, it fired up and didn't fall apart...:hmm:
Looks like I'll have to purge the air as it tried to over heat. It was end of days...er... ah..end of the day, getting dark and dinner time so I just shut it off and put everything away....took a day off tomorrow and will try to sort this bugger out.:bang:
Half way there...:steer: I'm slower than I thought:hillbilly:

Sounds like its coming along.

Just hope this "air bubble" isn't something more...like ..."oh my god what did I do!" or "what have I done?!":bang:
But hey, glass half full, right?:hmm:

Looking good Russ! You'll sort it out in the AM, then enjoy your fruits the rest of the day.

note to self: pay attention to how much fluid comes out of vehicle when it's time to refill. :hmm:  :bang:

bout a gallon short yesterday. added some today bla bla bla...doesnt' seem to be leaking anywhere. dropping the 'mostly water only' batch and refilling up to the proper mix then out on the road for a shakedown.

second picture is the 'leftovers'. the bigger one looks more importand that the other :hmm:  :hillbilly:

p.s. now maybe i can get back to the unhijacked portion of this thread:clap:

Only 2 screws! I'm totally impressed!! Way to go Russ!!

Spray the engine compartment with a little water and chuck 2 or 3 handfuls of dirt in there and you will be done! :hillbilly:

this isn't a job i'd want to do again in just a couple of days or so. too old and inflexable for the up and down on concrete.
it's nice to know i can do it and it's worth the $700+ savings but there's plenty of other things i'd rather be doing....like working on the 4.5.:hmm::rolleyes: :steer:

Looks good Russ

Possibly for the transmission kick down cable? Just a thought...

Ok, after last weekend's debacle, I was looking forward to an easy but productive weekend on the 4.5. Not! :bang:
Came down with a head cold sat morn and didn't feel very motivated. Did manage to get outside and change 2 whole vac lines. Head's stuffed up even more today. Motivation dropping. :hmm:
"Gunna" try some daytime cold pills and some supped-up coffee and try to accomplish sumpin'.
Pre-run and Mcgrew are coming up fast and I'm not making the progress I'd hoped for.
Maybe a couple more vac line today? Crikey!

Wow, you seem to get sick a lot! Good luck, I have a similar route I need to take with my 4runner.
