I was sitting around the house one day thumbing through classifieds (is that a thing, do people even know what that means?) And lo and behold I stumbled on a little truck.
From posts here you can glean that I'd wanted a mini truck for a while.
I couldn't find a Toyota I really liked so I gave up for a while.
Then I found this.
It's a 1977 Datsun King Cab.
L20b
5 speed
Bad repaint
1" rear lower blocks
Ugly wheels
Datsun 240z seats and steering wheel
Mirrors that don't fit
Poorly done emissions delete
Poorly installed mad ignition
Poorly don't Weber swap.
The corner lights were scotch lock spliced into a random harness when the functional factory wiring is in place.
The msd had brown for hot and red for ground
The blower motor was wired into the cigarette lighter circuit which was missing.
It has LED's in the dash that caused all the lights to flicker.
The tail lights are aftermarket and boy did he **** those up.
I removed all the msd junk and replaced it with ngk components.
I used a gm hei module with a gen 1 electronic Nissan ignition to spark it all.
I rewired a lot. There is more left but it's getting better. I also added a dual port USB outlet where the lighter should go.
I need a new horn relay. I need to move my tach off the dimmer circuit as it doesn't like being dimmed. I need to figure out why the door switches don't trigger the dome light. I need to wire up the wash pump. But it's coming a long.
I've ordered a roll pan because I yarded the park bench rear bumper.
I ordered 3" lowering blocks.
I'm going to order a silvermines disc brake conversion for the front.
And I bought a new intake exhaust combo.
The 77 has emissions and it's been deleted poorly. The exhaust and intake manifold are tied together so if one was going they both were.
In comes a cannon intake manifold that is designed for the Weber rather than needing an adapter.
I also acquired a exhaust manifold off an L16 truck. It's a 4 in to 2 manifold and as good as any header on the market without a worry of leaking.
I soaked the manifold in clr for a few days and will paint it high temp to keep it looking nice.
Did some work to the ole girl
New intake manifold
Exhaust manifold
Rebuilt the Weber
Spiffed up the air cleaner.
New exhaust including a custom y-pipe(stock manifold was a single, this is a 4-2-1)
