Been wanting to start my thread so i will be adding pics and info little by little.

Been wanting a diesel cruiser a while. Can't believe its going to be almost a year since the purchase. Went searching day by day and came across this well kept HDJ81 that was imported by Land Cruiser Direct. The previous owner I got it from was really nice and helpful. I spoke to him on Thursday and Friday morning i got dropped off at the MIA airport. Took two flights. From Miami to Atlanta and then from Atlanta to Bentonville Arkansas. The previous owner was nice enough to pick me up at the airport. Drove back to his place and walk thur the truck and made the deal. By then it was time to head back to Florida. Jumping on the highway for the first time on a RHD took a few niles to get use to, but got the hang of quickly. I was long ways from home. Crossing six states 1,400 miles. Did a pit stop at walmart and picked up some groceries. Crossed a few states and ended up taking a nap in Alabama for about one of two hours in the truck. It was freezing cold that I woke up trembling. Started the truck and put the heated seats immediately. Thats probably the last time I use that. By that time i still had ways to go and the truck performed flawless. Besides the jdm head unit which was the first thing replaced.

I will be adding pics and info little by little of my build.

You think wanting one for a year is a long time, lol.

That looks like a peach, nice find!

The head unit was one of the first thing I replaced. Removed the JDM head unit and went with a pioneer 8200NEX model. I went with a pioneer over a kenwood bc the pioneer had better reviews. Also replaced the oem front and rear speakers and removed and bypass the factory amp. I ended installing jbl speakers. I didnt have much choices bc of the clearance issues. I had to modify the speakers a bit to fit. Also removed the rear sub and made a black plate out of starboard so you wont be able to see through the spearker grill. All wires got installed with heat shrink terminals was a bit of a pain behind the head unit bc of the limited space but everything came out nice and happy compared to the old oem speakers.

Congrats on your purchase !

I’m currently sitting at Seattle airport waiting for a flight to ....., hopefully I go get my 1990 HDJ81. I might be comparing a few notes with you in the future if you don’t mind ?

Nice! Post pics. Enjoy the wait... Lol Are you driving it back home?

Yep, hopefully ! 17 hrs plus or minus....

That's a really clean looking truck, reminds me of my '91 (same colors and everything!). 3X lockers, winter package, very nice! What year is it?

Surprise!!! Installed a complete stainless
Beaudesert 3" exhaust with 3 1/2×3 dump. Bolted right up with no problem. Made a big difference considering that I left it with a muffler and left the fuel pin and turbo setting stock. Might boost up turbo a bit later on.
