My bro picked up a DJI inspire drone (his first) and let me have a go at the controls. This could easily get very additive. Stupid simple to fly across the sky day or night at 40+ Mph over 1/2 mile away on a iPad screen, just crazy. With 4K video you miss nothing but the need to buy a 4K TV to view the greatness from.

Not sure yet if I can fly from my house being close to Scottsdale airport. The software denies him from flying close to Sky harbor but it does not show Scottsdale airport on the do not fly map. Something I need to check out more.

Did you get any video? How "choppy" is it?

Not choppy at all on a 4K TV its over the top perfect. You see everything! Too much for most computers from what Im told.

Those DJI UAVs ("drone" is so last week) are very nice. It's pretty amazing what they have out of the box, such as automatic return-to-start-point in the event of signal loss from the controller, autonomous station-keeping at whatever altitude you like (especially nice if you have one of the higher-end models with a gimballed camera), etc. I may be picking one of the entry-level ones soon. Attach the GoPro and go take trail vids. Crazy bunch of stuff out there in the quad/hex/opto-copter world. Want to spend several hours? Search on youtube for "copter uav" (or drone) LOL.

On my recent trip out to Moab, had a couple guys with drones. One consumer level type with gimbal mount, 4K GoPro, etc. And the other was more industrial grade with 4K camera. The gimbal takes all the 'jello'/'choppiness out of the equation. These things are the real deal. Expect to see more and more people documenting trips with these. They get imagery (stills and video)you can't even imagine with a regular camera. Check out the photo below, from Top of the World in Moab...@tancruiserjr took this one...(it was posted on MUD already, just moving here to show you guys)

Game changer for sure when it comes to documenting experiences.

It has the Kimball mount camera and knowing my bro and has all the options that are available absolutely wonderful to me not sure what you mean when you refer to jello effect

The "jello effect" is caused by vibration, usually unbalanced propellers or a loose camera mount. The Internet has lots of ways to fix...

I wanna play! :bounce2:
