Hi from Doha.
A few months ago I picked up a 1997 GX-R limited. It's my first ever 80.
Carb'd 1fz - part time 4wd - 5 speed manual - subtank - cool & icebox - rear ac - dual spare - sunroof.

*Aisin locking hubs were installed by the previous owner.
*No winch - The cover was added by previous owner.

The GX-R would have been considered a mid spec 80 in our local market but being a "limited" meant it had a similar exterior appearance package to the fully loaded VX-R limited.

As per information from the original first owner, an older gentleman who has since passed, the asking price was almost as much as the more popular fuel injected VX/VX-R models but he preferred to stick with the carb'd 1fz because he had never owned a fuel injected rig and didn't feel comfortable trying something he wasn't familiar with.

No shortage of badges on the GCC spec 80!

Luckily the frame doesn't have any serious rust but the body has some parts that need attention.

Due to the current Covid situation I haven't had much time to do any real off-road drives yet but hope to do so soon.

Nice...rear AC....🥶....a must have for the backseat passengers during the summer months here in AZ. I wonder how difficult it will be to add it to our U.S model LC....🤔

Unofficial highway speed limit (speed camera flashes after 140km/h)
I find the 80 prefers to stay below 120km/h.
Not due to lack of power, just overall feel of the vehicle.

Very nice! I have almost the exact same trucks imported from KSA (minus the 200 lol)

That engine bays looks CLEAN for a GCC vehicle! Nice score man!

Must be so cool driving GCC spec rigs in Canada! I have some Canadian friends and we always go offroading together, maybe I can convince them to get land cruisers too.

Now that pic is some awesome perspective from here in usa#1 land.... Beyond cool! Thanks for sharing.

Ok, I got a good offer for my 80 from a friend and this pops up....
Sell the 80 and get this or remove the bad thoughts from my (insane?) mind

I have a soft spot for the 100 and I already own a 98 100 which I plan to never sell.
It's definitely not "logical" to get another 100, and I've only had my 80 a few months.

No decisions have been made, just thought I'd share what's on my mind.

Since we're only spending your money....keep the 80 and add a second 100 to your fleet.

YOLO.

That would be the dream, but I would have to get rid of one.
I know the owner of this 100 and he has offered me to test drive it for a full day, I'll take him up on the offer and who knows? I might hate it and this thread might end up having 5+ pages. A small part of me actually hopes I don't like it.
I'll keep you updated.
