so I got this bumper today; Toyota Tundra Baja Bumper

it's a one off built for a 2000 tundra that the guy "gave" me for less than the what was in the boxes that are holding it upright in the piccies.

my bro has an '02 tundra that it should bolt up to if I ..er, ah, ahem... we can't figure out a way to mount it on the crusher:D which is where you guys with plasma and MIG welders come in ....ahem........:hhmm:

yes it is all about the dog, and yes those lights work. very well:eek:

it will stick out from the front of the '80 20 ish inches which I think is a lot for rock crawling, but is a lot of room for crumpling under the impact of a deer or what have you, looks pretty stout for general tree pushing within limits and should provide ample room for a winch in the future if re-engineered to be strong enough........uh..ahem....cough cough.:hhmm:

let the ideas flow gents, I will not be bringing it to the meeting but will get more accurate measurements and a decent drawing for bench racing while there.

When you bring it leave the skid plate at home, its hard to see the attach points with it on there. Also remove your FJ80 bumper or only leave a couple bolts holding it on so we can see whats under there.
My house is only 1 1/2 blocks away from the pizza place so if something can easily be done it wouldn't take that long. :wrench:
The biggest problem I see is the lack of an upper mount, otherwise with the stinger there is a lot of leverage being placed on those lower mounts. Ideally you have multiple mounts on different planes. See the FJC on here to see what happens if you don't.

I'm headed to the garage after work to pull that skid pan, I don't know if the thing will fit inside with my kids car seats, but I do have a yak rack, so I'll get it there.:D

now, who has a real:princess: that would not mind hanging with my boys for a bit while I help J master flash mod this sucka?

was that sexist? I rephrase; who is a real :grinpimp: or :princess: that would do some light kid supervision while J dizzle and his nizzle (me) gits fabby?

oh yeah, link to FJC here? do we have a damage report?

hmmmmmmm:meh:
"or only leave a couple bolts holding it on so we can see whats under there. "

that's the problem to begin with; only a couple bolts hold the thing on there to begin with, it's a chintzy POS IMO.

after pulling the bumper and skid plate and doing some clever stacking I think this sucker will go to little bro's tundra after all, it would work with some mods but would not be what I want really and would be a pretty good damage multiplier.

I like it but if it were me, I would utilize the tubing but recut it to fit, narrow it up, relocate/ redesign the mount and plan for a winch. Maybe add some flat plate in the lower sections.

Nice score!

definitely what I would do if it was not a direct bolt on to my brothers tundra, I think I will go with the Metaltech bumper when it gets built, sounds like they are getting it together soon and I happen to have some investment money waiting to be spent on company stock, maybe a bit of that will go to them as well, .............maybe sliders and front spring spacers, and cc bushings, and shocks and gears and 37's. stocks are a bad investment, landcruiser parts on the other hand...

OK, sorry about the daydreaming, I need to focus here.
