I thought I'd share the progress of my ongoing custom drawer and platform build for my '15 LC200. I initially wanted to build only a platform to replace my system of using two side-by-side plano boxes with camping/overlands/backpacking gear on top of wich I would then pile on luggage, etc.... This worked, even with my Dometic 55, but was really obnoxious to unload on stops. So I built this initially out of 3/4 plywood and some screws and glue (as simple as it gets). I am not a carpenter or an engineer and this is going to be widely obvious by the workmanship. But the process has been fun and was inspired by countless home builds on this forum.

Not surprisingly, that just left me wanting more. The stability was questionable on the rubber mat with those tiny legs and honestly I just wanted it to look better. So I started with creating wings.

This was OK, but you can see the outline of the lower left wing is off, and the stability and security of the whole system is just awful. So I morphed it into a plate-based system, redid the wings and added a slide out prep table along with carpet and tie downs.

I probably should have stopped here. This was perfectly functional for me and my uses, but I had some free time (apparently) and decided I needed a fridge slide. They are so darn expensive and the drawer slides are so inexpensive, I went for it. The problem was the wheel well stuck out way to far to create a standard system for my Dometic 55 because of the extra custom width of the left side of the platform. I had to actually built it out so the slides are on the outside of the box platform in order to have a platform both wide and long enough for my system. This created many complexities I will not get into but have many, many regrets. Once I built the slide, I moved on to a cooking pullout and a small drawer with undermount slides underneath. I have since redone the cookout drawer as I initially had it on slides, but that was overkill.

Nice work
Nice work
Thanks. I have spent far too much time on it for the results, but at minimum I learned a lot for my next iteration WAYYYY down the road. For now, small improvements here and there are getting me where I need to be. The biggest issue now is replacing the rear springs now holding all that weight!
