Hi my name is Eunice, I have been 6 months without my beloved 91' Land Cruiser with 67,346miles. I had a head-on accident in march, I was struggling to find the parts at a right price, and at the same time getting before from my back :-S and after 4 or 5 months I found them all. Because one thing was finding them the other was having them sent to my little island Puerto Rico.

It was last week that I was finally called up to go get ger, tears fell :( she wounded great I had forgotten how heavy my truck was :). For starters, I went to put gasoline in it and when I filled it up it diddnt mark the gasoline  well , I still went home when I got home me and my dad started looking at the engine and everything , it all seems fine.
When I go to put my headlight on, one doesnt come on, but then it did, and its been like that ver since...

BUT what I AM MOSTLY WORRIED ABOUT! is the fact that now everytime I turn it makes this horrible horrible noise, and my wheel stops and she doesnt turn right, dad says it could be the steering wheel? dont know, cuz now when im accelerating and im going at 2000rpm she makes sort of the same noise just before she switches gear. :( I HAve no idea what this could be?

Can somebody please help me?
thank you, :D
Sincerley,
Eunice M.

PS: She is a beautiful white TLC she look like new from the inside, well i guess the 67,346 miles might say it all but still, she is a beauty and seeing her after the wreck was something that I will never forgive myself, that is why I want to do anything I can to put her back to her normal self. including her slow pace :) which I love now :) . ;)

the before picture is here although the quality well, sucks.... but still there she is and t you can see the after in one of my websites: ( after meaning during the collison pictures).

First, welcome! It's really nice to have a few more representatives from other places on the board. Second, you're lucky that you were in your truck, at least you got to go home to your wife (?) and kid (?) - both lovely!

Some of the more experienced users can provide more info on what may be wrong (in my mind there is a very long list of potential things). It sounds like you had a garage do the work. Can you take it back to them and point out this major problem?

Cheers, Hugh

Hi Eunice,

It sounds like an electrical problem is causing both the gas gauge to malfunction as well as your headlights to go on and off at will. I would check the grounding strap from the battery to the engine/chassis. Make sure it's getting a good connection. Your battery may also be marginal since the truck has been out of use for so long.

But Hugh is right--the garage that did the work should fix this since it wasn't that way before the accident.

Hugh:: I think Eunice went home to her husband ;)

:-) your right...

jejeje he's right Im a woman but unfortunetly I havent finishes studying so Im not married yet, but I do go home to talk to my boyfriend. jajaja ;p

Other Details

Another things I didnt mention, the a/c compressor was fixed just after the accident and evrytime I use it the truck losses all its force, and the battery level goes down :( although it goes down eveytime I put the headlights on, use the wipers, lower the windows or just use the turn signals, I was already accostumed to this when I bought her she had a really serious alternator problem ( although now I just wonder if it was my truckie or the people that were working on her, the real reason of her faults). But we but a very big battery and everythiung was working great ( it had a 7 year warranty i bought) when I went to get her now I llokd to find my battery gone, and a little one there instead, they told me the other one was dead, and didnt work, so they threw it away!!!   THEY COULDNT SEE THE VERY BIG STICKER iN IT THAT SAID 7 YEAR WARRANTY, but.... well they coulndt do anything!, so now because I have a very small battery again I believe this could be a root for some of the problems. But I will have to take it to the shop again when I have time because with the university I dont have time but the noise gets worse everyday

Saving Time

So you didnt waste your precious time going to my site, here is a photo of my trukie upfront.... PAINFULL I KNOWWW :censor: :o

ok? wheres my picture, I uploaded it :(?

FWIW, Photos have to be reduced down to less than 90k to upload.

Battery may fix the majority of your problems, and since getting it tested is free at most auto stores, that would be the first thing to check.

Noises are hard to diagnose, especially since we can't here it. Try to be as descriptive as possible in regards to type sound, location etc.. anything that can help give a clue (horrible doesn't count, all loud noises are horrible :D). Does it sound like a slipping belt? Have you checked the belt tension, power steering fluid level??

ehh jeje sorry, welll lets see i havent cheked the belt, i was planning on it tomorrow, the sterring liquid well i know I filled it up before the collison? do you think I should put more now? well now to the sound description to me it seems as if a metal part of the truck is grazing something and it makes that noise, I AM NO EXPERT THOUGH, im just using my imagination. My worst fear is that a part of the front axle or some part of the front wheel system still has a bent part :(.
If you need more of my imagination let me know ;p

This is going to be very difficult for anyone here to solve for you due to the large variety of parts possibly damaged or incorrectly installed during the repair. I feel your best efforts would be to take the vehicle to the person or shop that did the repair. There are just too many possibilities here for a diagnosis over the Internet.

Hey E. well what people don't belive is that I was going well below the 30's.
the accident was completly my fault which is why I was in depression for some months...
I had just made a turn on a light ( togo to my univeristy). Here the path os very small, one lane for each way, but it is also the path where big trucks come out (industrial) well I took my eyes of the road as soon as I turned ( radio :whoops:  ) and well when I looked up the traffic had stopped because a truck ( which I never did like, and now worse) was trying to come out, well i couldnt stop because t was to late and I hit a 04 :-S pathfinder who hit a 95 4runner :-S it was a very bad scene but fortunetly we all came out safe and sound. The pathfinder girl turned out to live in my same neighberhood  and well she doesnt like me very much.... ( who would)...
well that is my sad story...

by the way the picture there is the trukie before the accident the one after is in my 1st post, just in case... :D
