I don't think chrome will stick to scotch tape

You have to polish the base metal before dipping it because chrome plate will not cover up blemishes. The layer of plating is too thin, and dipping multiple times doesn't help. My neighbor used to own a plating business and years ago I wanted to plate a dual tube winch bumper I made out of schedule 40 pipe and fittings. He walked me through the process and we agreed the polishing required and the likely outcome was not worth the effort. The sharp points of the rough finish will quickly begin to rust.

Nice craftsmanship by the way, looks like a lot of careful work with the 4" grinder and cutting blade.

Thanks Matt. Ill give you a call sometime this week.

To cut the tube I had to use a drill for pilot holes for my scroll saw with metal cutting blades to cut the sides parallel to the tube corners then use the grinder for the edges perpendicular to the corners. I then used a die grinder bit on a dremel on the inside corners.
I beveled the welding edges and cleaned up the edge burrs.

Took about an hour.

Hey Matt clean out your pm box

Better yet, buy a silver star:D

Woody will take your money, even if you are a 4Runner guy.
