i dont like those white fender flares but since your dads truck had them i understand. wish ihad one of those willies wagons u had, my dad had one when i was growing up. we had lots of fun in that truck

I figure the flares work with the white wheels and top. Plus I'm planning to paint it to match my Dad's old 40.

I've always had a thing for the Willys wagons. I plan to build another one when my wife and I have kids as an alternative to a mini van.

Your Bezel...

is on right. Just fyi.

The Jeep sold quickly and with some $$ in my pocket, I sat down to decide what I wanted in a Land Cruiser. Below is the list of absolute must have criteria for my new rig.

1. Must not have a vaccuum shift! (My '70 had this and I hated it)

2. Must have a hard top and doors.

3. Must have a 4 speed

4. Must have a Toyota 6. (I planned to do a V8 conversion, but having owned a few vehicles with truly bastardized engine swaps, I wanted to do the work myself and make sure it was right.)

5. Must not be red. (I don't like red cars)

6. Must have Ambulance doors

7. Must have front disc brakes

8. Must be able to pass smog

9. Must not have Bondo

10 Must be rust free

11. $6000 MAX!!!

With the equipment I wanted, I would be looking at '76 and later 40's.

I had the exact set of criteria when looking for my cruiser. I wanted a bone stock cruiser so if anything got fxxxed up, at least I'd be the one to blame. Narrowed down my search to a stock 1975 which I planned to add disc brakes to. I had to drive all the way down to San Diego to get mine, it was New Years Eve and I planned a special (last minute) trip for me and my girlfriend. Ironically, there just happened to be a FJ40 for sale near where we were staying. What a coincidence huh? hahah

Just think of it this way, even though you didn't get the discs, or the ambulance doors, or non red car, at least you never have to pass CA smog. Everything else can be changed.

I got tired of my lug wrench rattling around and taking up space, so I fired up the lathe, cutoff saw, tig, plasma cutter, slide rule, dial indicator, degree wheel...and came up with this: (NOTE: This mod should only be attempted by professional fabricators)
