I had a little accident last night. I was driving through Lancaster and was rear ended. I am pretty sure that my truck is toast as it bent the entire rear of the truck down and buckled out the sides.

Any interest in the 3.4 and the associated swap goodies? Engine has around 100k miles and does not burn a drop of oil.

I am going to see what the insurance company has to say before deciding anything. I would like to buy it back and use the parts to build another, or just sell the parts.

Hope it works out for you!

Ouch!!!

Andy- sorry about the 4Runner. I can vouch that this was/is a great running 4Runner with a meticulously and competently engine swap. It ran as though it came with that engine from the factory and had good power. Somebody ought to jump on this- Andy's a good guy to dea with. Gary S

It depends what happens with insurance. I can't imagine that it is not totalled. New quarters are $700 each - plus labor and paint.

The rear doors now have no gap at all - they are tight to the body. The floor in the back it buckled pretty good too. The frame rails are peeled back like a sardine can from the hitch.

I plan to buy it back if totalled - and part it out. I was thinking of putting the engine into an 88/89 4runner.

Yeah, that was one of the first things that crossed my mind.... The problem is that I need something that has the rear enclosed for the dogs and to be able to haul my trailer when we go to our cabin. The 40 doesn't work for that in more ways than one!

I got the word yesterday that it is indeed totalled. I am going to look at a '91 tonight that has a blown engine. I will come out with $2000 if I just buy mine back and swap components over to a new body. That is about what I figure I need for new tires for the 40 - and enough to pay for most of a 4.3 TBI swap!

I had not really thought about it before, but I have the perfect combo here. You can pick up these trucks all day for $1000 because of the crappy 3.0L engine.

I have thought of the same thing, since my I put another engine in mine and it has a bad cylinder, so I need to pull the head and see if it is just the valve that I think it is. I put it in the last week in Dec, and then found the bad cylinder. It has been sitting since until I get a chance to pull the engine apart.

If you have a good rear bumper let me know...mine needs a replacement.

Good luck!

I bought another 4runner last night. I got a deal of "Gary proportions" (I hardly paid a thing). Picking it up tonight! It has a blown head gasket.

I can't really do anything until the insurance company stuff goes through. I hope to get the new truck stripped down this weekend so that once the old truck is ready I can change everything over more quickly.

Craig, that is why you just need to swap a 3.4 into it and stop trying to make a good 3.0. ;)

Got a good start on getting the engine out this weekend. Hope to have it out this week. We are moving on the 24th so I am busy packing as well. The timing on this was not so great!

Found out on Friday that the guy who hit me did not have insurance on his '07 XTerra..... gonna get $500 less now because of my deductible.

The new ride -
