G'day everyone, thought I'd drop in this section and say hi.
This is my 99 HZJ 105 cruiser.

Mods so far are,
Safari turbo, front mount intercooler and
2 and 3/4 mandrel bent straight thru exhaust , no muffler.
2"dobinson lift
ARB sahara bar with premier 9000lb winch
Safari snorkle
Polly air air bags in rear springs
Kaymar rear wheel carrier
33" Federal Couraiger muddies
Red arc duel battery setup
Hella rally 4000 spotties
Alloy rhino roof cage
ARB 3 mtr x 2.5 mtr awning
Twin 25ltr stainless water tanks mounted each side of chassis rails
Out back draws
MSA drop fridge slide
40ltr ARB fridge
Sony 2din head unit and roof mounted dvd player

Truck also came with factory F&R lockers.

So far the bottom ends back together, just the top end to go, fit the turbo and all the other crap and we're good to tune and go.

Where can I get one of those front axles? Will it bolt or fit in mine? Nice rig!

I am seriously Jealous.....

I really wonder how much and what parts it would take to swap a 105 front axle assembly and steering setup (dunno how to do that with a left hand drive versus the right hand drive as it comes).....

how does the solid axle 105 handle compared to the IFS 100 BWD1 ?

It has been done, but unless you've a need for seriously impressive articulation it is not worth it. Certainly if you couldn't do it yourself you'd need to have a lot of discretionary green stuff. I think the front axle is the same for LHD and RHD except for the set up.

Well that is a vague question, but vague isn't a bad description ;-) It depends on what the conditions you want it to handle. It depends on what you pay for suspension components. But in short, IFS is cheese (compared to live axle chalk) for any road handling including dirt roads. It is when you want articulation that the old live axle comes into a world of its own.

Hi mate,
Reckon it would be a pricey job to swap the front end over.
To the best of my knowledge the IFS 100 has a wider chassis by about 40mm that the live axle 105, alot of fellas over here want to use bullbars of ifs trucks on their live axle and vice versa but need to fab up different mounting brackets to make it fit.

The 105 handles surprisingly well,,im sure the ifs is better on rd but cant say from first hand experience as iv never driven one. All my mates that have 4wd wagons either have live axle 60 80 or 105 cruisers or gq and gu patrols and the rest have ifs duel cab utes that I dont drive, lol.

Your spot on there mate, its all about articulation.
Alot of guys over here that have the ifs 100 can have issues unless the front is locked. The reason for this is their ifs trucks are always lifting a front wheel, if unlocked this wheel spins quicker than the wheel on the ground, when it come back in contact with the ground if revs are too high they often break cv's or do the pinion gears in the diff due to the collapsable pinion spacer having to much give in it and allowing the pinion gear to move to much., this normally results in a lot of swearing and then the consumption of alot of alcohol, lol.

The locked fronts have the collapsable pinion spacer swaped for a solid one elieveating this problem, being locked also allows the wheel in the air to spin at the same speed as the one on the ground saving the cv's from punishment, so yeah thats the main reason we love our live axles, that and the extra traction benefits from the better articulation.
 
Hi mate, not sure if it would fit a 40.
If you wanted it for the coils the 80 front axle is stronger apparently.
