Bought an 01 a few days ago. With 100k miles, most would probably mistake it for a brand new vehicle. I have had an 01 tacoma since new and decided i wanted something different. I will certainly miss my truck and the gas mileage, but I have a feeling this 100 will keep me happy for quite a while.

I took off the running boards today and had to replace a light bulb, what a peice of junk;).

Anyway, glad to be part of the group. If I could just get my 40 to stop leaking fuel, I would have two running LCs.:D

Heres some before and after running board pics.

welcome to the electronics side...

seems like a good one! enjoy!

Have any interest in selling those running boards?

Congrats and welcome.

Welcome. Nice looking truck. Obviously you've been lurking awhile since your running boards came off almost immediately!

I've had my running boards for sale in the classifieds for a week or so without any interest... I gave them away yesterday for free just to get them out of my garage...:censor: I would have rather given them to someone on this baord if you would have just checked the for sale section.

I just saw that you left a reply to my for sale.... again :censor:, that is why I left my phone #, so you can call me. Oh well, they are gone, sorry for hijacking here. Really like your '01. My kids were slipping of the boards so I took mine off immediately too. Now I feel less need for a lift with 33's tires... it just looks much better.

That sucks, you should have given it more than a week. You put it up for sale and then never look back? Oh well, we both lose.

To continue the hijack, do the boards just come without any holes to fill or anything? My wife has had our '03 for four days, she might notice if I pull them now, but they seem pretty useless. Anyone else think they're too narrow to be practical?

That is exaclty why I got rid of them right away!!!

Too funny. I thought I was the only one that would be having that 'discussion' with my wife. I don't dare bring it up beforehand. I'll have to do it while she's sleeping, then deal with the consequences afterwards.

It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

If it's a simple bolt on, I can take them off for a test. If they get driven over during the test (oops), I'll have to order sliders from Slee. Next I need to damage the front bumper so I can get an ARB, not sure how I'll justify a lift.

My wife actually prefers the look without the running boards. I need to get rid of them soon, because i have absolutely no intention of putting them on.

For the lift, do what I am going to do:
"Honey, the suspension parts are warn out and need to be replaced as part of routine maintenance. I'm replacing them with aftermarket one's which are stronger and allow us carry more weight in the back."

"The weight of the running boards were pulling the truck down. Taking them off caused it to lift... about 2.5 inches"

Congrats on your '01 Champagne Pearl 100 !! Isn't it amazing how much better the rig looks without those tacky rb's ??!!!

Have I ever mentioned how I feel about running boards ?? ;)

Welcome to the show LSU !!!

:cheers::cheers:

And that $1k, that was to get the running board fluid cooler capped and environmentally disposed of. Oh, and since the running boards are tied into the airbag electronics, the dealer suggested we install an ARB to get the airbags operational. Yeah, an ARB, I dont know what it is either, but we shouldnt be driving this thing without airbags. :D

Oh, and the removal doesnt leave any holes, took me about 30 mins to remove with hand tools. Do it, Do it!

If I ever get my 100, I'll be all over it. Unfortunately, I think Larry, his brother Darrell and his other brother Darrell are handling the transaction. It hasn't even shipped yet.
