what sounds good and what doesnt? The TRD sounds good but it hangs too low. Flowmaster doesnt sound good on a V-6 so what is everyone using and what kind of sould does it give off?

how loud is it in person? Can you hear it in the cab I was told that Magnaflows are as quiet as stock? Or does it resemble the TRD Rumble?

At idle it is pretty normal.
Pulling away from a light you can hear it, and if you goose it, it sounds really good.

At highway speeds I can hear the low tone of it fighting with the tone my mud tires make at that speed.

It is not overbearing at all, but it is not quiet at freeway speeds like the factory one is.

I have ran Magnaflow mufflers for close to ten years now.

They make several, this is not the ricer shiny type, it is an aluminized oval can, and much smaller than the stock one.

I also run the Magnaflow and have been quite pleased! It has a nice low tone as well as bit of a rumble...as close to one as you can get without a nice cammy V8:grinpimp:...sorry I got a bit side tracked thinking about steet rods again. Okay so it is also rather quiet if you are just driving normally, as quiet as one might want a throaty muffler to be, and when you get after it a bit and jaz the thottle you get a nice rich rummbly sound.:grinpimp:

Just remember that bottum line what matters is what sound and feel you like. The engeneers that get paid the big bucks to read the output from very expensive machines for opptimum overal performance have already given you what they feel the best muffler will be. :o Beyond that it's all up to us to F it up and make it our own.:grinpimp:

P.S. My guy made a much cleaner weld :flipoff2::grinpimp:

has anyone tried borla? Aparently the sound is very close to the trd?

Borla? Never heard of them. Maybe I just need to get out more :)

Borla makes high performance muffles they make an entire system for the FJ thats around 1200 dollars but the muffler alone is around 200 or so...

i have the series 4 flowmaster am highly pleased with sound and performance. gained power and 2 mpg really love that.

Series 4? do you have a part number or different designation, the only ones i see on thier site go from 40 series up?

Get the Magna Flow and be done with it ...

I went with the AFE High Tuck Cat back Exh and am really happy. Great sound and clearance.

thanks for the input any advice on which 2 chamber flowmaster to go with...im seeing like 3 different versions...

thanks

aero turbine

my 2 cents. i have a aero turbine muffler on my 89 fj62 w/ stock inline 6 cylinder 3fe and it sounds like i have a low growling v8 under my hood. i turn many heads and it increases your mpg and hp up to 15%. you dont see these mufflers hardly anywhere but i would look into it. i had a flow master on the 62 and i will never use anything but aero turbine again.;)

ill have to do some lookin into that Ive never heard of em before, thanks.
