im thinking of building a sort of mudflap like you see on the dually in the movie death race. anyone know the rules on that. im from Manitoba. Canada.

I didn't think that Death Race had many rules?

sorry I wasn't clear on that. I mean what are the rules on it being road legal

Rules on what is legal or not legal on your rig are determined locally for the largest part. No one in California for example can really tell you what will be okay in Florida... or Manitoba.

And... a lot of us have not really paid any attention to the details like mud flaps on any particular rig in any particular movie.... you'd be better off to provide a little info on what you are wanting to use and why you think it would be a problem.

I have a hard time thinking of any functional mudflap that would be a cause for legal concerns.... unless you are wanting to incorporate rocket launchers and flame throwers? ;)

I have only had troubles with mudflaps in Saskatoon. But I believe the general concensus to be legal in Canada is the top 1/3 of the tire must be covered horizontially by fender or mudflap from the rear. This is for both front and rear tires. Does this make sense to you? Also, I believe the maximum that a tire can stick out from the side is 1 1/2" without any covering 360 deg., this is up to discretion of said cop.
I've seen guys running around with 2-3" sticking out with no real problems.
FYI, keep you truck clean - wash it, keep your windows and lights, licence plate clean and you won't attract attention, showing respect for some rules seems to allow bending of others.
