MTRs suck, get iroks :flipoff2:

Ok so what in your opinion sucks about the MTR's, I am just curious not bashing. Seems most people I talk to love them and only a few don't, and most of those have never run them.

I also like the IROKS may have to get a set of radials next.

Zach is just making a point, MTR's are hands down the best DD/wheeler tire made to date, not many people will disagree with that.. But if you are wheeling in sharp rock, or mud, loose rock, the iroks are probably the best bang for your buck!

and anything with a procomp sticker on it is junk!

MTRs work well on rocks, but once you throw anything else in the mix they don't. Whether it be mud or snow. And their sidewalls are weak, but it is a radial tire after all.

Wheeled with em for two years on my 6000 lb 80 and a year with my 55. No issues with the sidewalls.

My son managed to split a sidewall on the 80 when a Kia ran into it at 45 mph. Discount tire warrantied it under road hazard. They also warrantied one on my 55 for off road damage as they had promised they would.

Ditto .. I thought MTR are the best DD mixed tire .. just tri to upgrade to 40" in my case ..

In mud .. sucks .. but it really sucks !!! ( trust me .. )

I've had 37" radial IROK's for a little over a year now. I don't put a ton of miles on the rig but they probably have around 3-4K on them. The rears are wearing a little bit as I run a Detroit there and I haven't rotated them yet. The fronts still look new. I just did a 1500 mile trip on them and they worked fine.

I just ordered a set from 4wheelparts.com

The salesman calls me back last night and tells me they called Goodyear asking when the order will be backorder will be delivered. (excellent customer service BTW) The president of the company gets an email from Goodyear the next day - Those tires are not in stock and not planned for production in the immediate future.

DAMN!

Anyone have a tire they really like and would recommend?

I see 60/40 street to offroad and a part time DD.

Thanks.

Andy

I bought a set off tirerack.com. They have in stock right now...

Hi All:

*Andy!* I told you to avoid those Goodyear R/T tires!

If you want to pose at the mall, do as Bull advises and buy some Thornbirds. :grinpimp:

You know John is really happy with his Coopers (much like the Toyo M/Ts.)

Personally, I'd vote for the 37" Irok radials (you've heard this before! ;p )
I am sure you'd be happy with these, at least while off-road! :D

Regards,

Alan

40" Mtr's

north shore offroad in BC had 40" x 17 x 13.50 on sale for $450 a tire, the first of the month ...

I am curantly using Toyo M/T 35's on 15 and they work awsome in all terrain so far and are pretty quite on the road. I am upgrading to 37's by the end of july.
