Started to work on the lexus this morning, it is an SC430, same suspension as a GS430.
Problem was that the rear tires wore on the inside something terrible. 10k miles and we are bald on the inside. One side rear strut was blown, so we are replacing both that could definitely be part of the issue possibly, but the forums talked about how all the rubber bushings age poorly, so they are saying to replace all bushings.
My plan was to replace all of them to eliminate that issue. US lexus does not sell the bushings, you have to buy from TRD Japan. US Lexus says to replace all the arms complete. That is about $3k, so I ordered parts from Japan.
We tear into it today, and the upper arms are made out of aluminum. Never tried to press into aluminum. Been reading up a little, sounds like cut the old bushings out, much like we to our lower arms, then heat the aluminum up -- freeze the bushings and try to put in with as little force as possible as quickly as possible.
Anyone have other suggestions?
