MPG at the Arizona Strip

Depends on the rig and what you’re doing. For my 200 I use 13 mpg to plan refueling stops.

From St. George, UT to Kelly Point, AZ and back, I used 18 gallons of gas. This was a ~215 mile trip. 12mpg

Most of the fuel was used on the 25 mile rocky road to Kelly point.

Don't take a stock 200 to Kelly point.

I'm not stock but I generally plan for 13mpg on the highway, 10mpg around town (11.5mpg for a mix of both) and 8mpg off-road. Under normal conditions I generally do about 10% better than that. When I was briefly stock, I would plan for 15/13/10 and hopeful to do as much as 10% better than that on-road but still 10mpg off-road. My buddy's stock 2013 LX runs about 17/13/10 actuals. So I think the lesson is don't PLAN for better than 10mpg on dirt, and probably not better than 15 highway.

Good to know. Yeah, going to Kelly Point looks hairy and Twin Point appears to be a better option. Kelly Point is way out there. I appreciate the planning insights.

I plan on 8 mpg offroad. If it’s higher speed stuff, 10. Crawling could be 5, but most trails aren’t 100% one thing, and the avg seems to be 8.

Never been there and it sounds interesting. Is it the same track that Matt's offroad recently featured?

Matt's recovery is the reason for the ask. I had never heard of the Arizona Strip before his video. It looks like a fascinating place where you could explore for days if you had enough gas, water, and food.
Never been off the highway through that area, but coming off the Kaibab Plateau towards Colorado City has some amazing vistas. That said, from the highway it looks pretty flat and not that interesting. I'd much rather explore the area around Zion and Bryce where MORR and Fab Rats do most of their recoveries.

Edit: A little research and it appears that "Arizona Strip" refers to a lot more than the area in view of 89A. Seems like its worth checking out.
